Tennis Player Nick Kyrgios Jokes About Playing Badly Because He Listened to Drake

Nick Kyrgios, Drake’s got a bone to pick with you.

After Kyrgios, a tennis player from Australia, played a below average first set in his third round match against Jiri Vesley at the 2014 Wimbledon Championships, the 19-year-old joked that his poor results were caused by listening to Drake.

“I came out really flat, so hopefully I won’t listen to that again! It was actually Drake,” Kyrgios said after the match. “Didn’t do the job for me.”

After hearing what the player had to say, the Toronto rapper was less than enthused.

“I also want to meet this guy that says that he lost because he listened to my music,” Drake said during a teleconference for the ESPYS, which he’ll be hosting Wednesday night. “I also want to meet that guy and look him in the eye and see exactly who he is as a man and size him up and then chop him right down. Nick whatever-his-name-is — ’cause he didn’t win, so that’s how he’s going to be remembered: ‘Nick whatever-his-name-is.’”

But while Kyrgios’ joke may have been a little harsh, it turns out that Drake isn’t in the right either.

While Kyrgios may have played a subpar game, he DID end up winning his match against Vesely and eliminated world #1 Rafael Nadal before losing to Milos Raonic in the quarterfinals. So perhaps, he changed up his playlist?

That being said though, Kyrgios has since apologized. But no word yet on whether Drake wants to include him in group of friends. After all, the rapper’s motto is, “No new friends.”
